Heywood 'Day Of Action' Should Clean Up Crime And Grime In Borough
4th February 2014
Crime and grime in the Angel Meadows Estate and Heywood Town Centre is to be tackled on a day of action on February 7th.
Rochdale Safer Communities Partnership is to take the action to combat problems such as fly tipping, bin fires, underage drinking, antisocial behaviour and tenancy problems. Community safety officers and the police will communicate with residents to gather evidence about the crime and to offer practical security, health and safety advice.
This will involve licensing checks at establishments and shops around the town centre and offering safe plating services at Morrison’s car park from between 10:00 and 15:00. Heywood’s beat police officers will be available for face-to-face discussions between 08:00 and 13:30 at St Joseph’s Church.
Rochdale Borough Council Cabinet Member for Strengthening Communities Councillor Sultan Ali explained that the day of action will allow people to report issues while enabling the police to provide help and assistance.
Rochdale Division Chief Inspector for Partnerships John Taylor asked people to get involved with the day to receive practical safety tips for their business, their family and themselves.
