Mr H was shopping in Debenhams when he went to the Gents, as he was washing his hands in the sink the wooden panel around the sink basin fell off and hit on our client’s leg causing him severe pain. Mr H could not believe we would suffer an accident in Debenhams of this nature due to Debenhams excellent reputation.
After seeing Clearwater Solicitors Television advert he contacted our dedicated case opening team who had a detailed discussion with Mr H and later arranged for one our specialist personal injury solicitors to attend at his home a free consultation. Mr H felt very confident in us and after effective communication instructed us to pursue an occupier’s liability claim.
Debenhams admitted liability immediately but required Mr H to prove the injuries were caused by the sink hitting his leg.
The case was handled by Sarah Jerram one of our experienced solicitors.
– Although the defendants had admitted liability they required proof that the injuries Mr H sustained were a direct result of Debenhams negligence and not anything else.
– In order to prove causation Sarah arranged for Mr H to be medically examined, upon receipt of the report and based on our client’s injuries the third party put forward an offer in the sum of £5000.00.
Mr H took our advice and was happy with the valuation and accepted £5000.00.
Our client was very pleased with the rapport he had built up with Clearwater Solicitors and felt he was kept up to date at all times which made him feel confident in us to secure the maximum compensation he was entitled to. Although having our client medically examined can take some time it is essential in ensuring we secure the best result for our client and avoiding the risk of undervaluing the claim.
