Mr Chew was working on the M62 as a labourer. He had been told that his job for the day was to remove the batters that lay alongside the motorway. The batters are hills on the side of the motorway used for cabling for cameras and signs. False steps had been put into the batter so it could be climbed easily and it was Mr Chew’s job to remove these steps. Whilst in the process of doing this Mr Chew uprooted a cable but it was still covered by stones and also grass had grown over the cable. Mr Chew could not see this cable.
Mr Chew was heading to the bottom of the batter and his foot got caught in the cable and he fell down the hill. He was very embarrassed and he got straight back up and reported the fall to the site foreman and also site manager. He told them that he didn’t think he had broken anything. Mr Chew’s wrist was extremely swollen for around ten days. The swelling then subsided but his wrist began to hurt much more. He went to hospital and had his wrist x-rayed. The x-ray showed that he had a broken wrist.
Mr Chew searched for personal injury solicitors Burnley in google and he found Clearwater Solicitors. The file was accepted by Clearwater Solicitors and allocated to Miss Manders.
– Miss Manders contacted the third party and they accepted liability for Mr Chew’s accident at work compensation claim.
– Mr Chew could not return back to work until his wrist was fully better. When he was fit to return back to work his employer told him that they no longer had any hours for him to work.
The third party submitted an offer for £12,542.87 for his injury at work claim. This was a good offer and it was gladly accepted by Mr Chew.
