Subaru Drivers 'Least Likely To Make Insurance Claims'
22nd July 2013
Subaru drivers are rarely at fault in car accident compensation claims, a new study has indicated.
Price comparison website MoneySuperMarket looked through 13 million car insurance quotes and found that drivers of the souped-up vehicle typically had made the least number of claims on their car insurance and were therefore least likely to make an insurance claim for an ‘at fault’ motor vehicle accident. Conversely, Seat drivers were most likely to have made an ‘at fault’ claim.
On average, they made 62.9 claims on their insurance per 1,000 motorists, compared with Seat’s figure of 94.1 per 1,000.
Despite the car’s reputation, Subaru drivers are also more likely to be in their 30s and 40s and are less likely to be younger drivers.
Other cars whose drivers had generally made the fewest car insurance claims include Fiat, Nissan, Peugeot and Smart Car, while KIA, Honda, Mini and Mazda drivers made the most claims.
MoneySuperMarket car insurance expert Peter Harrison noted that Subaru drivers did not necessarily pay the lowest car insurance premiums, as this also depends on factors including the driver’s profession, their driving habits, the engine size, and the cost of vehicle repairs.
